ask & task

Prior to the introduction of JASCAYD® (nerandomilast), Boehringer Ingelheim initiated an evolution of the digital ecosystem for OFEV® (nintedanib). The objective was to comprehensively revise the CRM streams and OFEV.com content. This revision aimed to seamlessly integrate Nerandomilast as a new treatment option, while simultaneously preserving support and a clear, intuitive experience for existing OFEV patients.

action

Operating within a live and fully designed platform, I collaborated with Art Director Josh Williams to integrate new strategic directives and optimize existing OFEV elements while implementing Nerandomilast guidance. UX Designer Crysta Jones and I designed intuitive interaction patterns and integrated clear directional guidance towards nerandomilast.com within the OFEV forms, facilitated patient discovery of additional treatment options and ensured a smooth, informed user journey.

Within the OFEV Figma, I focused on enhancing the efficiency and scalability of the design system. Boehringer Ingelheim's Figma design files lacked local components — this deficiency has led to inefficient, manual updates, introduced design inconsistencies across different pages and states, and impeded design scalability and project velocity. To address this, I undertook creating and implementing a comprehensive suite of dedicated OFEV local components. This involved an exhaustive audit of existing UI elements, their standardization into reusable components with defined states and properties, and their integration into the current design files.

This strategic overhaul not only ensured robust design consistency for both new feature development and existing designs but also improved the maintainability and adaptability of these critical digital assets within the broader Global Design System (GDS). By establishing this more structured and component-driven workflow, future design iterations are streamlined with accelerated developer handoff, and fosters a more consistent and reliable user experience across the entire OFEV digital ecosystem.

results

Updates have been implemented through a phased release approach, with initial revisions successfully launched in October, followed by further enhancements in December. Our current efforts are progressing towards a January 2026 launch, integrating additional design refinements and content integrations.

Early internal stakeholder validation of the user flows and content strategy affirms our success in harmonizing evolving brand priorities with patient-centric information delivery. This sustained partnership with the Boehringer Ingelheim team demonstrates our adaptability and dedication to advancing their dynamic digital health initiatives.
